Tioman island is teeming with legends. According to folk tale, a beautiful dragon princess made Tioman her home and pledged shelter and comfort to passing travellers after being enchanted by its crystal clear water and corals. From the air, the island does bears an uncanny resemblance to a sleeping dragon.
Mersing is the mainland jetty to Tioman island
Tioman island is roughly 38km in length, 19km at its widest section and Mount Kajang (1038m) is its highest outcrop. This simply means, apart from marinelife appreciation, visitors can expect some rainforest galore and a good jaunt on dry land too.

1. Route Tekek-Juara – Distance 7km, duration 2 hrs (rainforest)
2. Route Mukut-Asah waterfalls – Distance 2km, duration 1 hr (waterfall makes this trail the most popular)
3. Route Mukut-Twin Peaks – Distance 4km, duration 2 hrs (montane forest)
4. Route Air Batang-Salang – Distance 8km, duration 4 hrs. (rainforest)
